Spreading a Message of Hope
As I assume the office of editor of La Civiltà Cattolica, well aware of the responsibility entrusted to me, I turn first of all to our subscribers and readers, thanking them in anticipation for their trust and support. The College of Writers has an irreplaceable role in guiding the magazine, and they are joined by the authors, the administrative staff and the editor in being of service to our subscribers and readers, who are at the heart of our daily work and form a community with which we wish to strengthen ties and deepen mutual understanding.

To our subscribers and readers we want to offer a journal that is faithful to its history, attentive to the issues of our day and open to the future. This means that we will continue to engage in a Christian reading of contemporary society, in faithful and creative harmony with the teaching of the Roman Pontiff and the Holy See. It is this clear identity that defines us as a journal whose history is approaching 175 years.

In a divided and wounded world in need of healing, peace and reconciliation, La Civiltà Cattolica is committed to spreading a message of hope, based on a thorough and engaged reading of the reality around us and a desire to make a contribution to the solution of the problems faced by humanity. It is part of our mission to look far and with courage toward broad horizons, without becoming lost in the uncertainties of our world.
